About Us
Hello there! We’re Jennie and Laura, two 30 something year old ‘mature’ students who switched office jobs for life on
blue lights.
We first met on our first day at University in 2020, wandering around trying to find our way, both not believing our luck that we actually got on the course and that our dream jobs may now become reality. We quickly realised, we may as well be twins (Laura is actually a triplet and a twin, interesting fact!) and have become friends for life.
Travelling, break ups, the pandemic, many years in our office jobs and entering our 30's all played a part in where we are today. We also have sisters who are archaeologists and share a love of garage music but that’s by the by…
We have just finished our second year at the University of Bradford and the brilliant thing about our course is that we have a sandwich year, working in full time employment for Yorkshire Ambulance Service at EMT/EMT2 level to prepare us for our fourth year and qualifying as a paramedic. Once we return from Tanzania we will be undertaking our blue light training course, ready to start shift work in September 2022.
We've been lucky enough to have support and funding granted to us through the University Turing Grant (a first this year for Paramedic students) to enable us to go on our overseas placement. Mike & Carlos, you’ve been superstars! We’d also like to thank Nina for encouraging us to set up this blog and we promise to get video evidence of the 'silly salmon'!

We hope you all enjoy reading about our time in Tanzania and maybe inspire you to make a change, as it's never really 'too' late.
